Limassol Marina’s Chief Accountant, Chrystalla Antoniou, looks back at her 11 years at Limassol Marina
What is one memorable moment that stands out to you from your time at Limassol Marina?
The opening ceremony in 2014 was one of the most memorable moments for many of us, I believe. It was such a phantasmagoric event, with beautiful decorations and so many guests, and everyone had this feeling of immense pride and joy. We finally did it; we had reached our goal.
What have you learned from working at Limassol Marina that you didn’t know before?
In terms of my job, I learned a great deal over the years, especially as the Marina was going through each of its stages. For example, going from the Construction to Sales to Operations phases granted me a wide range of accounting experience in so many areas.
How do you feel about Limassol Marina reaching this 10-year milestone?
There is an overall celebratory mood, particularly among those of us who were here from the beginning and witnessed the Marina transform into what it is today. It is a truly remarkable achievement, one that we are delighted to have been a part of.
What are you most proud of as you look back at the last ten years?
Of course, we are proud of the entire project, but never more so than when I think back to all the challenges we faced over the last ten years – the economic crises, the pandemic, the wars – and how we overcame each of them and still managed to be successful. That is certainly something to be proud of.
What does Limassol Marina mean to you personally?
After 11 years, Limassol Marina is a meaningful part of my life. During my time here, I grew up, progressed in my career, even had a family. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
Well, I adore the sea. So, just the fact that I can work right next to it is so important to me. Even though we may not have a view of the sea all the time, just knowing that it’s there, that we can step outside and breathe in that healing sea air, makes it so special.
What emotions do you feel when you see the changes and growth over the years at Limassol Marina?
Admiration, particularly when seeing the development throughout the whole area. And pride that I was a small part of that development, even if it was behind the scenes.
Describe Limassol Marina in one word.
Unique. I truly believe there is no other place like it in Cyprus, and perhaps even abroad.
What do you think people feel when they visit Limassol Marina?
I find that the vibe here is one of relaxation. People who visit the Marina immediately switch to holiday mode, where time slows down a little bit and they can kick back and just be.
What do you find most special about Limassol Marina?
When I think about what was once here – an area that was uninhabitable and uninviting – and what is here today, I feel awe and admiration. Limassol Marina upgraded this entire area – and the whole of Limassol, and that is truly amazing.
