Limassol Marina’s General Manager, Mr Nikiforos Pampakas, looks back at the Marina’s 10 year journey and celebrates the success of this project
What is one memorable moment that stands out to you from your time at Limassol Marina?
There are several moments that I remember over the years, but I would say that the one that stands out to me the most is from our very early days, right at the start of the project almost 17 years ago. We had an idea, and enlisted teams from abroad to help with the process – from planning and marketing to development. When they came to see the area, I could hear them whispering among themselves in disbelief, wondering how on earth we could pull this off. And yet here we are, 17 years later, celebrating 10 years of Limassol Marina’s successful journey.
What have you learned from working at Limassol Marina that you didn’t know before?
After 17 years, Limassol Marina has become a way of life for me, offering an education more than that of any university. There are a lot of things my experience has taught me, but I would say that the most important one is to believe in your target and work towards it. No matter what it is, if you believe it, you can achieve it.
How do you feel about Limassol Marina reaching this 10-year milestone?
I feel nothing but immense pride at this milestone achievement.
What are you most proud of as you look back at the last ten years?
I’m proud of the huge success of this project, not just for the shareholders but for the entire community and Cyprus as a whole. Limassol Marina put Cyprus on the yachting map, and that’s the biggest achievement we could have hoped for. Just knowing I had even a small part to play in this tremendous success makes me feel very proud.
What does Limassol Marina mean to you personally?
Limassol Marina is my second family. After 17 years and countless hours spent here, it’s like my child has grown into a teenager (laughs). It’s truly a special part of my life, and it’s almost impossible to put into words what Limassol Marina means to me.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
Just look around. Coming here every day, seeing the sea, it’s like you are reborn every morning. This is the emotion that greets me every morning, and the one I take home with me every evening.
What emotions do you feel when you see the changes and growth over the years at Limassol Marina?
I feel great satisfaction at what we have achieved and for meeting our targets, as well as great pride and excitement for what this project has brought and will continue to bring to everyone. Whether it’s yachters or residents or anyone who chooses to visit the Marina for a meal, a coffee or just a stroll.
Describe Limassol Marina in one word.
Family.
What do you think people feel when they visit Limassol Marina?
I have spoken to many people who visited the Marina, people from Cyprus but also visitors from abroad, some of whom have traveled to some of the world’s most interesting places, and I’m proud to say that they are amazed at what they see here.
What do you find most special about Limassol Marina?
The way that we have managed to jointly meet the needs of the property residents, the yacht owners and visitors, the commercial visitors to the restaurants and shops, and also everyone who visits the Marina for a daily stroll. These are vastly different groups of people, and ensuring they are all happy, I believe that is what makes Limassol Marina truly special.
