Our Senior Accountant, Onoufrios Antoniou, shares his experiences after 3 years at Limassol Marina
What is one memorable moment that stands out to you from your time at Limassol Marina?
One of my most memorable moments was from before I even started working here, when the Marina first opened its doors to the public. It was truly amazing to see how many people of all ages and nationalities showed up to visit the Marina and experience something that was so unique and spectacular for Limassol and Cyprus as a whole. This is when we all realized that the Marina was everyone – not just residents and boat owners, but for every member of the public who wants to be a part of this community.
What have you learned from working at Limassol Marina that you didn’t know before?
Multitasking is my biggest takeaway from this job, considering the scope and scale of Limassol Marina. Daily, we are met with challenges from all areas – from berthing and residential properties to commercial properties, as well as clients that range from crew members and boat captains to tenants and visitors. Not to mention people of all ages, cultures and nationalities! We learned to adapt to every person and every situation and handle every situation with grace and professionalism. It’s an exciting learning experience, one that has certainly broadened my horizons over the years.
How do you feel about Limassol Marina reaching this 10-year milestone?
I have so much respect for this project and what it has become. It literally started from zero, an area which was just fields and dirt, and look at us today. And what’s more, it continues to grow and evolve. Limassol Marina started as an ambitious idea on paper that turned into a reality, and there’s still more to come.
What are you most proud of as you look back at the last ten years?
In my short time here, I find myself continuously proud and amazed at the hard work everyone puts in to make Limassol Marina what it is today. There is a deep love for this project from everyone, and we all constantly look for ways to develop it further and make it even greater every day.
What does Limassol Marina mean to you personally?
It’s a place of peace. Though it is my place of work, I’m happy to stay here to grab a coffee after work or come back at night for a drink. It’s a part of my lifestyle, and I’m not in a rush to leave after I finish work. The Marina brings me peace and relaxation, and I think there’s nowhere else like it.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
My team here is practically like family to me. We all love our work, and this translates into us working very well together, supporting each other through challenges and celebrating each other’s wins.
What emotions do you feel when you see the changes and growth over the years at Limassol Marina?
I feel pride and admiration at how far this project has come over the years. There’s always something new in the works, and I’m excited to see what else is in store for the future!
Describe Limassol Marina in one word.
‘Wow’ is the first word that comes to mind. ‘Unique’ is the other word I can think of. But it really is more than that. There are far too many words to describe Limassol Marina!
What do you think people feel when they visit Limassol Marina?
I think every person who comes here has a different experience. Families who visit enjoy the calmness, the community, and the safety of the area. Visitors and tourists enjoy the relaxing holiday vibe. Boat owners and sailors feel a sense of adventure when they come here from abroad. This is really a place that has it all. But most of all, I believe that everyone who sets foot in the Marina feels the overwhelming calmness of simply being on the sea.
Do you have a story you want to share with us from Limassol Marina’s 10-year history?
While I don’t have a particular story of my own, what I love about the Marina is that I feel that I am part of other peoples’ stories. There are faces we see and greet every day, walking around the Marina, or on the boats, and in a way, our stories are entwined with theirs, joined together by this great community.
What do you find most special about Limassol Marina?
There are so many things that make Limassol Marina special, but I believe that on a deeper level, it is the hospitality that is deeply engrained in our culture that has made the Marina what it is today. And this is what keeps people coming back time and time again.
