Let the Christmas on the Sea festivities begin
Limassol Marina celebrated the beginning of the most festive season of the year with a dazzling Christmas lighting ceremony in the presence of thousands of people at the Marina’s Square on Saturday 2nd December. Switching on the sparkling lights of its much-loved 12m high Christmas tree and bursting the whole project into sparkling lights, families and friends had the opportunity to experience the magic of “Christmas on the sea” and create unforgettable memories with their loved ones.
This year’s “Christmas on the sea” created an unprecedented, delightful atmosphere of joy and happiness, elevating the wintery festive feel of the occasion! Accompanied by the Limassol’s Mayor, Mr Nicos Nicolaides who marked the official beginning of Christmas by switching on the lights, a snow-covered Marina adorned with gorgeous decorations and its sparkling lights transformed the area into a dreamy scene.
As part of the unique event’s set-up, all the visitors had the opportunity to experience various Christmas activities and festive shows that enhanced in the joyful spirit. An interactive arts and craft workshop for children by Aphi Creative Space, a brilliant dance performance from The Ballet House by Marina Paraskeva, and a repertoire of beautiful Christmas tunes and carols by the Eliconas School of Music. Added to the jolly spirit a music performance from Melissa Kyriakou, Christina Averkiou, Spyros Aristeidou, Marios Menelaous and Stefanos Meletiou, put everyone into the Christmas spirit, creating the ultimate festive atmosphere. The arrival of Santa Claus was an especially cheerful part of the event, made even more special by his sharing of gifts and love across Limassol Marina, while children had the chance to take photographs with him in a specifically designed area which was dedicated to him for that purpose.
A charity Christmas Market in support of the Funraising Charity Foundation was also held, during which visitors indulged in some Christmas shopping, with a beautiful selection of holiday decorations, accessories, jewellery, and many more crafted items available to purchase. Volunteers added to the warm Christmas cheer, making warm mulled wine and toasty chestnuts to raise funds for the Foundation.
Christmas on the Sea Lights on Ceremony marked the beginning of a festive season with various events and activities at Limassol Marina until the end of the year. Explore more about the Marina’s Christmas on the sea Calendar of events in December, here.
